Amy Yerdon is an Assistant Professor in the UAB School of Nursing and the BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Assistant Program Director. She received her Master’s in Nurse Anesthesia (MNA) from UAB in 2011 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Texas Christian University in 2020. Dr. Yerdon has many years of experience providing anesthesia in a busy, high-acuity OR in a level-1 trauma center, managing quality improvement projects, and teaching in the clinical setting. While maintaining her clinical practice, her passions include major abdominal surgery, intraoperative hemodynamic management and goal-directed therapy, substance use disorder, and clinical preceptor education. She has given local, state, regional, and national presentations on these topics and published manuscripts on hemodynamic management and teaching in the clinical setting. She has served on various committees for the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists (ALANA), Director on the board, and Chair of the Professional Development Committee. She is a member of the NBCRNA Continued Professional Certification Assessment Item Writing Committee and the AANA Practice Committee.
